Why Do We Do What We Do?

The number of people in the UK being diagnosed with MS is increasing rapidly.  The number of applications for help with Disability Benefits is, therefore, also rising quickly - while Government policy is currently to lower and restrict expenditure on such benefits.  The eligibility criteria is now more stringent than ever before, so more applications are being turned down - the number of Appeals is, therefore, at an all-time high.

Some general advice and support is available within local MS groups, but a large vacuum exists between the number of people affected by MS who are entitled to Disability Benefits, and the number of experienced and knowledgeable people available to help them to make their claim.

SAMS fills the gap by providing this service to people affected by MS across London and North Surrey, and at a minimal cost to the MS Society.
